Private Swim Coaching for Competitive Swimmers in Redmond
Turn a stroke question into a clear focus for your next practice and race.
One-to-one technique coaching with Nicholas Imig for teenage and collegiate competitive swimmers. Work on freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly or individual medley at Redmond Pool.
Discuss your swimming goalsSunday sessions by arrangement. A parent or guardian should inquire for a minor.
Bring the event. Find the useful priority.
Your event and your current swimming give the session its direction. Describe the stroke or part of your race you want to understand better, and what you have already been working on.
Nicholas’s specialties are sprint freestyle and breaststroke. A 50 or 100 freestyle swimmer can bring a focused sprint goal; backstrokers, butterfliers and IM swimmers are equally welcome to discuss their technique.
The purpose of individual attention is to identify a manageable change and understand why it matters. Coaching does not promise a particular time drop, qualifying standard or competitive result.
Use the session alongside your training.
If you already swim with a team, bring your coach’s current priorities and the context of your season. That helps make a private session relevant to the swimming you do the rest of the week.
- Start with your question. Explain the event, the technique issue you notice and what you would like to work toward.
- Understand an adjustment. Use clear explanations, questions and feedback to connect a change to its purpose.
- Carry a focus back to practice. Work toward a cue you understand and can discuss in the context of your regular training.
For a collegiate swimmer or a teenager managing a team schedule, the right next step depends on your needs and actual availability. No ongoing package or training-plan commitment is assumed.
Racing experience behind the coaching.
Nicholas won the men’s 18–24 100m freestyle at the 2025 USMS Summer Nationals in 52.26, the fastest men’s 100m freestyle time across all age groups at that meet. He also set Seattle University records in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle.
His coaching approach combines that sprint background with seven years of swim-teaching experience and an emphasis on helping you understand your own swimming.

Sunday inquiry windows are 3:30–4 p.m. and 5:15–9 p.m. Pacific. Every session requires date-specific lane confirmation, and an inquiry does not hold a time.
Tell Nicholas your general experience, coaching goal and preferred window. Format, price, payment and required paperwork are discussed before a lesson is confirmed. Leave a minor’s name, birth date, medical information and videos out of the public form.

Questions from swimmers and parents.
Do you coach backstroke, butterfly and IM?
Yes. All four strokes and individual medley are welcome. Freestyle and breaststroke are specialties, not limits on the events you can bring to a coaching inquiry.
Does private coaching replace my team?
It can be arranged alongside your team training. Bring the goals and technique priorities you are already working on so Nicholas has that context.
Can you review a race without an in-person lesson?
Ask about online swim coaching and race video review. Discuss the footage, your question and the desired feedback format first. Videos and private video links should not be submitted through the public inquiry form.
How are lesson length and price decided?
Describe your goal and availability in the inquiry. Nicholas will discuss a suitable format and quote before you commit. Sending an inquiry does not take payment or confirm a booking.
